Megaskepasma erythrochlamys (whew, that’s a wheelbarrow of a name) common name ‘Brazilian Cloak’ is a herbaceous shrub that is very showy and fast growing. Native to Venezuela where it grows in tropical woodlands, this evergreen plant bears dark red/scarlet terminal flowers. In full bloom, ‘Brazilian Cloak’ is breathtaking with its large flowers against huge leaves.
I use it as a background plant and it is in flower from January up to July. Great for colour in the garden.
